‘American Idol:’ 10 of the Competition’s Freshest Faces
, News & Rumors Who was kicked off on ‘American Idol’ tonight? Aaron Kelly went home after singing ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ by Frank Sinatra . It was probably just a matter of time before Kelly was booted from ‘Idol,’ and the 17-year-old’s failure to nail a classic song by Sinatra last night turned out to be the final straw for ‘Idol’ voters, who voted him off over Michael “Big Mike” Lynche

‘American Idol’ Results May 5: Who Got Voted Off?
Filed under: Features , Fans , Blogosphere Like last night’s Top 6 performance show, Twitter was full of surprises this week. Casey James gained some new fans with his touching, stripped-down performance of Shania Twain’s ‘Don’t.’ Siobhan Magnus and Michael Lynche, meanwhile, were polarizing as usual. Dedicating songs to loved ones seemed to work out well for Crystal Bowersox and Aaron Kelly

, MJ’s Take For the record: I’m not much of a country fan, and I’m not familiar with the Shania Twain songbook. Still, not being familiar with a genre hasn’t stopped me from enjoying an ‘Idol’ episode if the performances were great

MJ’s Take: That Don’t Impress Me Much
Tonight’s theme on ‘American Idol’ was music from the Shania Twain songbook, and 17-year-old Aaron Kelly delivered an emotional performance of Twain’s ‘You’ve Got a Way’ that Simon Cowell said was a marked improvement over his performances from the past few weeks.

, Poll It was Inspirational Songs Week on ‘American Idol’ — pegged to Wednesday’s ‘Idol Gives Back’ charity episode — which naturally means a healthy helping of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey and tears. Well, this ‘Idol’ crew did not disappoint: We got Siobhan Magnus singing Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey at the same time , and Crystal Bowersox making us all a little sniffly when she sobbed at the end of Curtis Mayfield’s ‘People Get Ready.’ (Or maybe we just had something in our eyes.) Mentor Alicia Keys was on hand to try to coax as much genuine emotion as she could from each ‘Idol’ contestant, succeeding in some cases a bit more than others (ahem, Casey)

‘American Idol’ Inspirational Songs Week: What Did the Top 7 Sing?
Filed under: Features , Fans , Blogosphere Looks like the Twitter-verse is concerned more with the ‘Idol’ guys’ looks than their talent. Not surprising since tweens dominate the social network, but last night’s Lennon/McCartney performance show actually had some of this season’s best performances from each contestant. Last night’s tweets, however, covered the cougars of Casey James, the rogue hotness of Lee DeWyze and the ultimate question: Who has a better smile — Aaron Kelly or Tim Urban?

, MJ’s Take This week’s Top 10 performances were a huge improvement over the debacle that was last week’s Top 11 Billboard #1 Hits. Usher came on board to help the kids tackle the R&B/Soul theme, resulting in some pretty decent performances. In an attempt to pump even MORE drama into the performance show, the cameras followed the contestants backstage after their performances.

MJ’s Take: The ‘American Idol’ Top 10 Makes A Rebound
, MJ’s Take ‘American Idol’ 9′s Top 11 is bound to go down in ‘Idol’ history as one of the worst nights of ‘Idol’ performances EVER — from the lame and generic song choices to the trainwreck performances to the teenaged mentor, Miley Cyrus, speed-talking as she offered up super-obvious performance tips to the kids. The kids who make the cut this week get to go on the financially lucrative Idol summer tour.
