Nine season premieres later, ‘American Idol’ is holding steady in the ratings. Last night’s debut episode drew a whopping 30 million viewers and an 11.8 rating in the key 18-49 demo. According to the Live Feed , that’s actually up 1 percent from last season’s premiere, marking ‘Idol”s first increase in three years.
