Filed under: Reality-Free , Features We had a hard time deciding what I should watch for Couch Potato this month. I’ve watched women’s programming all day ( OWN ) and The Disney Channel , and I was hoping this time that my editor — a perfectly lovely woman who has never showed any cruel streak before — would assign me something I was familiar with, or at least something I could identify with. She chose MTV.

, Blogosphere Songs by the late Michael Jackson were scarcely performed on ‘American Idol’ (we wonder: did Justin Guarini’s trainwreck cover of ‘P.Y.T’ have anything do to with it?) That is, until season 8. This year alone we saw a number of A-level performances, from the semi-finals (Matt Giraud’s ‘Who’s Loving You?’) to a full two-hour episode dedicated to the King of Pop, which will replay on Monday at 8PM
