There has been a lot to take in this year, from the event episodes to the Super Bowl spectacular to needing a scorecard to keep track of the different romances to the trifecta of Gwyneth Paltrow episodes to Sue Sylvester flying off the rails.

In what might have been the most evenly matched season ever, it was anyone’s trophy to take home on the finale of ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ And indeed there was a shocker — at least when it came to the top two.

Even though contestants were encouraged to bring their A-games this week, some early favorites continued to fall off — (get it together, Andrew Garcia), while a few underdogs continued to surprise us — (‘sup, Alex Lambert?)

I feared the copious amounts of suck the boys could bring to the ‘Idol’ stage, considering they’d been unable to so far match the girls performance-wise. But, surprisingly, the guys not only picked better songs, but raised their game in a way the girls generally didn’t
