There has been a lot to take in this year, from the event episodes to the Super Bowl spectacular to needing a scorecard to keep track of the different romances to the trifecta of Gwyneth Paltrow episodes to Sue Sylvester flying off the rails.

Filed under: Dancing With The Stars , Recaps , Finales Three final dances, three perfect scores … and just one mirrorball trophy. In what might have been the most evenly matched season ever, it was anyone’s trophy to take home on the finale of ‘Dancing With the Stars.’ And indeed there was a shocker — at least when it came to the top two.

Scott MacIntyre is returning to familiar turf to perform a duet on ‘American Idol,’ just as the show announces season 9′s Top 12 finalists. MacIntyre, who finished eighth in season 8 after singing Survivor’s ‘The Search Is Over,’ is vision-impaired, and both his story and his musical chops won him admiration and a nation full of fans. Less than one year later, the singer-songwriter is set to release his first full-length, post-’Idol’ album, ‘Heartstrings,’ March 11 (available on iTunes and at MacIntyre’s website )

Even though contestants were encouraged to bring their A-games this week, some early favorites continued to fall off — (get it together, Andrew Garcia), while a few underdogs continued to surprise us — (‘sup, Alex Lambert?)

, MJ’s Take After last night’s lackluster showing from the Top 8 girls, I approached tonight’s Top 8 guys with a little trepidation. I feared the copious amounts of suck the boys could bring to the ‘Idol’ stage, considering they’d been unable to so far match the girls performance-wise. But, surprisingly, the guys not only picked better songs, but raised their game in a way the girls generally didn’t
